Lucy Brosnan is an artist and curator living and working on Gadigal and Dharawal Country, Australia. In her art practice, she primarily works across painting, drawing, and sculptural installation. Lucy considers herself a craftsperson with a sustained curiosity for the physical qualities of materials and the conceptual weight embedded within everyday objects.
Interested in liminality, she uses materials to reflect on the tensions present between the conscious and subconscious and the emotional resonance carried by familiar forms and imagery. Drawing from imagery from old photo albums, recollected scenes and the traces of memory, she considers how personal histories intertwine with broader cultural narratives. Lucy is interested in the idea of bridging personal notions of memory and the subconscious with collective identity and what that looks like.
Lucy holds a Bachelor in Fine Art majoring in painting (2021) from the National Art School and a Master of Art Curating from the University of Sydney (2025). She is currently on the Board of Directors at Schmick Contemporary.
